Dear Families, Educators, and Young Readers
I believe childhood should be filled with family, fun, and exploration—moments that help children practice the life skills they are already learning at home and in their communities. As a mother and educator, I have always believed that stories can be a powerful way to support those lessons.
My journey into writing children’s books began while studying children’s literature during my undergraduate program at the University of South Florida. As I read through the assigned books, I noticed that many of the stories did not reflect families like my own. That realization stayed with me, but it became deeply personal one day when my oldest daughter told me she felt unmotivated to read. In that moment, I realized the kinds of stories I wanted my children and students to experience simply didn’t exist yet.
So I decided to write them.
I created The Just Enough Series to celebrate sisterhood, emotional growth, and the everyday moments where children learn about confidence, patience, and balance. Through the loving relationship between sisters Just and Joy, these stories are meant to support the values children are already learning within their families while helping them see themselves reflected in the pages of a book.
My hope is that these stories encourage children to discover confidence, connection, and joy while reminding them that they are already enough.
Thank you for being here and for sharing these stories with the children in your life.
Warmly,
Demetria Largie
